Juno
Meet Juno, a 1.5-year-old mix of multiple dogs. She turns 2 in September.
We started fostering Juno in January. She came to us from a situation where she was outside almost full-time, even during the very cold periods. When she arrived, she was very underweight and had patches of skin that were missing hair due to the cold. She also was suffering from Lyme's disease.
Fast-forward to now, she has gained back her weight and is a very healthy 55lbs. She has fully recovered from Lyme's disease with no lingering issues. Most of her hair grew back, save for two smaller patches that will not grow back from the frostbite, but do not affect her in any way.
She is one of the happiest dogs you will meet. Nothing bothers her (besides not seeing her humans). She takes corrections from other dogs in stride, normally just continuing on with her day when her resident dogs tell her they are not interested in playing. She LOVES to chew toys, and can destroy even the strongest of toys, so plush and rubber toys are probably not a great idea, or at least full supervision and clean up will be required.
She is fully trained and very smart. She knows sit, sit pretty, down, stay/wait, shake with either paw, come, walk left/right side. She is great on a leash and does not pull or have any prey drive that we have seen. She is a dream for walking and will have a slack leash 99% of the time because she stays by your side or slightly in front of you.
She does get a bit excited, so smaller children could be victim to her bumping in to them in a fit of joy. She will howl in excitement when she sees you for the first time each day, or when you return home. We have tested her out of her kennel overnight and she will sleep on a dog bed in the room the entire time. We are working on testing her out of the kennel when we are not home, but have had no issues in 2-3 hour increments that we continue to expand.
If you are looking for a dog you can bring places, she is your girl. She loves car rides, and she is great in public. She will just lay down and relax if you stop somewhere. We have taken her to breweries, stores, events. Each time she was great.
Her only area of work is being in her kennel alone. She will make you aware that she is there, but does quiet down. So shared walls might not be the best idea if you plan to kennel her for longer periods.
